The Tenth Circle
Condemned to the Tenth Circle of Inferno for the sin of wishing mercy and love upon evil itself, Alina Peregrine-Rosanne Hunter - background unknown - now lives and breathes among the eternally damned, trapped in a place where even the Devil thinks she does not belong. But hey, at least there's free wi-fi, so that's nice I guess.
This is the story of Hell's Huntress, Alina Hunter.
Takes inspiration from Dante's Inferno.
Young Alina was a woman, a devout follower of Christianity. But like all people eventually do, she died. But, despite her faith, Alina's soul landed in the judgment hall of Hell. In wait was the Devil, king of the nine circles of Hell, who had been watching Alina throughout her life. But now, the Devil was confused. Had this soul not lived a good and faithful life? The judgment began. The first circle, Limbo: for those who lived good lives, but did not believe in the existence of God. But Alina knew God; she had lived Catholic her whole earthly life. So the first circle was not for her.The second circle, Lust: a place where no thing gleams. While Alina had been scandalized and drawn into circles that brimmed with lust, not once in her earthly life did she ever willingly permit herself release outside a faithful relationship. So the second circle was not for her.The third circle, Gluttony: a great storm of putrefaction. Although Alina at times feasted merrily with friends and family members, and though she had sometimes overindulged to escape stress, she always sought to break free from the would-be chains holding her back. In her life, these merriments were not her addictions; they were simply human. So the third circle was not for her.The fourth circle, Greed: an eternal joust between hoarders and spendthrifts. Alina's savings in her earthly life, however, were not spurred by greed, but rather scrupulous caution. In life, Alina saw wealth as not something to take pride in, nor to be exploited frivolously, but instead to be used with careful precision and good intention. So the fourth circle was not for her.The judgment continued. The fifth circle, Wrath; but she never raised her voice in anger. The sixth circle, Heresy; but she knew her faith and trusted God. The seventh circle, Violence; but she was peaceful, only taking blood in defense of others. The eighth circle, Fraud; yet while she told lies as all humans do, she presented her real self first and foremost. Finally, the ninth circle of Treachery was reached. Deep in Alina's heart, there laid a burning hole where something had been taken from her. Alina was not a traitor herself, but rather the victim of treachery, her place in Heaven stripped from her by the one she loved. The Devil knew none of the nine circles of Hell would hold Alina; she didn't belong in any of them. Yet here she was, in Hell, separated from God by a chasm no soul would ever cross. The Devil demanded of Alina, "What is your sin, dead woman?"The soul replied, "I believed you could be saved."The Devil's black, withered heart was moved with pity for the soul who offered mercy to even the incarnation of evil itself. Yes, the Devil had made his choice long ago; he would never follow God, and so he made Hell. But this soul, this dead woman, continued to believe the Devil could be changed. "No," the Devil said, "I cannot be saved. My choice was eternal. But since I cannot sentence you to the torments of the Nine Circles, I will show you the mercy you cannot show me."So the Tenth Circle of Hell was created, for those who had committed the sin of believing what was naught but evil could ever be made good. And the Devil sentenced Alina Hunter, the Huntress of Hell, to reside there for eternity. It was not a place of torture; it was a place of mercy, where the mercy shown towards the Devil was instead shown to those who were merciful.Yet the Devil's version of mercy was not without suffering.Alina resides there still, suffering in torment from her inability to soothe the Devil's black heart.(Unless you're here from Final Fantasy XIV, in which case...)
My Gaming Interests
I primarily prefer multiplayer fantasy games that support roleplaying and world-building, such as the following:
Favorite Game: Space Station 13
via ExobytechNova codebase - I modded this!Final Fantasy XIV
This is a notable exception, since although I don't do roleplay on FF14, I still wanted to honorably mention it here! Eorzea is good shit for the soul.Heavily modded Project Zomboid
Heavily modded Minecraft (Java, Forge 1.20.1 / 1.18.2)
If roleplay isn't your thing though, I do like to play these other games w/ friends. You're probably better off catching me on FFXIV or Minecraft, though.
